Wonderful Evening

This is one of the many reasons we love living in our town. A lovely summer evening and The Blawenberg Band, in the gazebo, playing wonderful old tunes. They played mostly marches last night. The fun fact of the evening came when they played "Sleigh Bells". It was written by a man who lived in a third floor apartment in Boston on a warn and humid evening. He wrote it to help him cool off with the thoughts of a sleigh and snow. He wrote it many years ago on August 4th (yesterday was August 4th). One of my daughters friends likes listening to Christmas Carols anytime of year because it's just fun music. I agree. They ended the evening with "Stars and Stripes" which couldn't have made a better impact on our small very Norman Rockwellish little town. Everyone was standing by the end. It was a wonderful evening.
